My Favorite Place - The Pecos Wilderness
The mountains, trees, and rivers of the Pecos Wilderness in New Mexico stand out in my childhood memories as elegant, majestic, and fierce. That is why I will always remember that wilderness to be one of my favorite places. The trees are tall and green, their branches forever dipped in snow. The waters are crisp, clear, and cold. As a child, I would crawl out onto a fallen tree that would span the river and look below to see the fish darting through the currents. My family and I would hike through the forests, stopping to pick wild strawberries. Eventually we would come across crystal lined caves. If we were lucky, the sun would hit the open mouth just right so that the inside of the cave would sparkle. The Pecos is a beautiful place that is tied to some of my favorite childhood memories.

Hi Haley! I've never been to that part of New Mexico, but it looks gorgeous! I think that we all have strong connections to places that we associate with childhood memories, but your childhood sounds awesome. I would love to go exploring there and look at all the fish in the river. And those caves! Wow, it must be so beautiful when the light hits the crystals.
