Feedback Thoughts

When it comes to my schoolwork, especially in subjects that I value as my strengths, I take feedback very harshly. I've been working on taking constructive criticism, and I have improved some, but I still find it best if negative feedback is delivered alongside positive

First, I read Using Harsh Feedback to Fuel Your Career, by William Treseder. His diagnosis for the reasons behind feeling attacked due to feedback resonate with my own feelings. I often feel like it is my identity being questioned rather than just the content of the work, I want to be the best at everything, and I want my work to be perfect.

Second, I read The Psychology of Comparison and How to Stop, by Ellen Jackson. I really like the steps she provides to focus on personal achievements over others. She says to be a racehorse and focus ahead, not up or down. To be successful, know the motives that drive your work. Aim for small personal achievements that will lead to a large goal.
